Are you at risk of joining the dystopian world of the Dead Headz?

Here’s a draft of a flyer that Kent Sanderson considers disseminating among the population of his dystopian south London town. In the end, he opts for something a little more palatable, thanks to the advice of his colleague, Pete. But this gives you an idea of the level of disgust and mockery aimed at the people who have decided to surrender their thinking and doing to machines in the First World.

Are you at risk of becoming a deadhead?

You may have heard the government announce the detection of an infection that’s spreading across the First World. It is causing people to experience issues with their brain, including cognitive decline and cranial weakness.  Be under no illusion, this is not caused by a virus but a brain disease of your own making.

It is entirely preventable if you act now.

Individuals who continue to rely on the Platform to do all their thinking are in serious danger of suffering from cognitive collapse and cranial weakness. Below is a guide to help you decide your risk level in terms of developing the self-inflicted condition known as ‘Deadheadism’.

HIGH RISK of joining the Dead Headz

You believe everything the Platform tells you and shows you

You buy everything the Powers are selling without question

You used to write your own messages and posts, but now rely on the Platform to do this for you

You spend at least 4 hours a day interacting with the Platform

You enjoy watching the short, quick-cut, fake movies that the Platform churns out

You believe that prompting the Platform to write a paragraph or produce a short film for you makes you an artist

You ask the Platform to advise you on the best way to wipe your arse after going to the toilet

MODERATE RISK of joining the Dead Headz

You spend up to 4 hours a day interacting with the Platform

You are suspicious of the Powers, but are content not to question them

You get the Platform to write the majority of the messages you send, although sometimes fancy creating your own

You find some of the short films the Platform generates moderately entertaining

You can wipe your arse without help, but still think the Platform is better at deciding what you have for dinner than you are

LOW /NO RISK of joining the Dead Headz

You realise that the Platform does nothing more than predict the next work in a sentence. It is not sentient.

You write your own emails because you like to engage your brain and not surrender it all to a machine

You don’t believe anything the Platform says nor any of the poor quality propaganda films it shows

You regard any written or visual content generated by the Platform as pure slop

You think the Platform can kiss your arse rather than advise you on how to wipe it

Nobody wants to live nextdoor to a deadhead. Don’t become one. Engage your brain.

This has been a public service announcement on behalf of the populace who retain belief in themselves and who have a hunger to learn and better themselves, despite the Powers taking urgent steps to make the populace weak, unquestioning and totally reliant on the Platform.
