Book Sales Analysis 2025: Best Day of the Week for KENP Page Reads

I’m Jon Lymon, an indie book author whose best selling titles are the novel The Wronged and the novella The Ghost of Christmas Threeve. Not heard of either? Well, like I said, I’m an indie book author.

For the whole of 2025 I tracked the sales, giveaways, and KENP performance of my books (10 novels, 3 novellas and several children’s books). The tracking was manually conducted, looking at reports from Amazon and D2D. No Ai was used, because Ai never needs to be used when you have a brain.

Now I’m sharing some of the results, which may or may not be of interest/assistance to other indie writers. If not of interest, I’d move on now, because this isn’t going to get any more interesting for you..

KENP, for the uninitiated or unsure, is Kindle Edition Normalized Pages, which tracks the number of page reads of your books by customers who borrow it using the Kindle Unlimited service.

To qualify, the digital edition of your book can only be available for sale on Kindle/Amazon. So you’ll need to delist it from other platforms. And I recommend you do follow the rules as you don’t want an email from Amazon. They will find out.

Exclusivity requires you to register your book with KDP Select, which lasts about 3 months. This allows you to offer a Kindle Countdown Deal or 5 days of free giveaways during the 3 month term. I’ve had plenty of success with the latter, but Countdown deals haven’t worked with me.

Best Day of the Week for KENP page reads

Tell me why I don’t like Mondays, Bob Geldof once sang with the Boomtown Rats. Well, let me tell you why I DO like Mondays.

In 2025, of all the days of the week, MONDAYS generated the most KENP page reads. It was a close run thing with TUESDAYS which also performed well in the Best Day of the Week for Sales category.

Learnings

Seems the early days of the week are best for KENP page reads, certainly for me. It means in 2026 I’ll be going easy on the number of freebies I offer on these days of the weeks in the hope that some customers will instead choose a revenue earning KENP page read instead.
