Never knowingly sold a book through X / Twitter

I keep a close track of my book sales, KENP reads and Amazon giveaways. It’s enabling me to see what’s generating the best sales – and whether any social posts are directly responsible for an uptick.
When it comes to X (Twitter) I’ve experimented with getting one of those blue ticks that supposedly increase your reach and engagement.
One thing about those blue ticks - they’re not blue. They’re transparent at best, but usually white. Minor detail but a major gripe if you’re as much of a pedant as me.
But that’s an aside. The point is that of all the sales focused, link rich, hashtag heavy (in the old days) posts I published on X/Twitter, not one, NOT ONE led to a book sale.
And I’ve a healthy but not astounding following on X. And not all of them are fellow authors or bots, I hope.
So is the only conclusion to be drawn here that X isn’t the place to sell books or try a build a following of readers? Should I use BookTok or somewhere else?
