As an indie author, I, Jon Lymon, like to make my books available for free to readers, so anyone who hasn’t read my stuff before can discover how utterly brilliant and witty I am. Ahem!
And in 2025, I made at least one of my books available for free nearly every day of the year. This has enabled me to gather data about which months of the year are best for Amazon free book offers, and which are worst.
I’ve already looked at the former in another blog post, so here’s a look at the other, more negative side of the coin.
The three worst performing months for Amazon free book offers were:
3RD WORST: SEPTEMBER
2nd WORST: JULY
THE WORST: NOVEMBER
It’s worth remembering that only digital versions of books can be offered for free on Amazon, and they don’t make great Christmas gifts, so that could explain the poor performance of November.
June to September proved to be a slow sales time for all my titles in 2025, with numbers down on freebies and KENP page reads as well.
