Worst Date in the Month for Book Sales

I’ve mentioned this before, and here goes again – sales are so precious for indie authors. That’s why knowing the worst day of the month for book sales might help other writers plan advertising campaigns and the like.

A bit of background – in 2025 I kept a close eye on all sales activities for my books and am now in a position to reveal the findings. I’ve already done the best date in the month for book sales, so here are the top five worst for me, Jon Lymon, horror and dark comedy indie author (extraordinaire).

WORST DATE OF THE MONTH FOR SALES:                   The 31^st

2^nd worst:                                                                                                       The 8^th

3^rd worst:                                                                                                        The 17^th

4^th worst:                                                                                                         The 1^st

5^th worst:                                                                                                         The 6^th

The end and start of the month looks slow for sales, a surprise given a lot of people will have been recently paid, but them’s the findings of my year-long statistical comfabulation.
